Alvilda Pirate Skirt

HISTORY: Alvilda, the daughter of 9th Century Viking King Synardus, ran away to sea and joined an all-female pirate crew to avoid being forced to marry Prince Alf of Denmark, and soon became the terror of the Baltic Coast. When she encountered a crew of male pirates who had lost their captain, they were so impressed with her prowess that they unanimously elected her their leader. The formidable Alvilda and her crew became such a menace to the Baltic merchant trade that none other than Prince Alf, himself, was dispatched to bring the scurvy crew and its female captain to justice.

Alvilda's ship and crew were finally subdued and boarded in the Gulf of Finland, but it wasn't until her helmet was removed that Alf realized the fearsome pirate was none other than his runaway bride. Alvilda was so impressed with his valor in battle that she married the prince, and the pirate queen eventually became the Queen of Denmark.
